PRAISE 106.5. Lynette here. A very popular crafting market by local makers is happening this weekend in Linden and thought we would talk to Kelsey and get a little history on the Red Barn Spring Market. Hi Kelsey. How did it all start?
Kelsey:
We are going into our 12th year. I was just thinking about this today actually. We started out as a little craft market at a Grange out in Everson, and it’s just slowly grown into this. So, yeah, 12 years. I can’t believe it’s been around that long already. I mean, it was different names and things before, but Red Barn Market has probably been around for seven years as that name.
Lynette:
Okay. And I bet it started out with just a few crafters. And now how many do you think you’ve got?
Kelsey:
Yes, now we have 115 vendors for this upcoming market. Isn’t that fun?
Lynette:
Oh, so exciting. Now the days are Friday and Saturday this weekend. Northwest Washington Fairgrounds, right? Follow the signs?
Kelsey:
Yes. Yep. Friday is 6 to 9 and Saturday is 10 to 4
Lynette:
Okay. So, what would you say are some of the things folks can count on being there?
Kelsey:
Yes, we always have a great assortment of vendors, but food vendors, we’ll have Filipino food, we’ll have ridges, we’re going to have kettle corn and all of that good stuff. And then also for vendors, we have Anytime Toffee. I know she’s always one that people look for.
Lynette:
Oh yes. From Ferndale.
Kelsey:
We have a bunch of good kits, items, clothing, boutiques, home decor, all kinds of good stuff.
Lynette:
Oh, I love it. And how about some of the more unique things that will be there this year?
Kelsey:
We have vintage vendors. I know that is something that we don’t always have a ton of, but we have a couple of different ones this time, which is fun. Yeah, we have classes also that’s unique. We have a watercolor class that we have iand a hat scorching class, which is going to be a fun edition this year.
Lynette:
Oh my goodness. Now is that something you need to sign up for or will you be watching it?
Kelsey:
Yes. So it’s an in-person class that you come and learn. So tickets are available on our Instagram or Facebook. You can find the link for those there.
Lynette:
Okay. Watercolor, how fun is that? And what was the other one you called it? Hat score.
Kelsey:
It’s the Hat Score Team. You design your own hat? Yes.
Lynette:
Oh, okay. Way fun. Yes! And you do need to get tickets. Can you buy them at the door or is it best to have them in hand by getting them online?
Kelsey:
So, tickets are available at the door. Probably the easiest way is to get those when you come. They’re just $5. But we also are doing free admission if you bring an item from the needs list of New Ways Ministry here in Lynden. So you can find that also on our Instagram and Facebook.
Lynette:
