What do you think about the upcoming “snow event?” Are you feeling excited or not so much? Whatever your feelings about the potential snow storm, it’s always a good idea to do a little prep work so you don’t have to stress. That way you can enjoy it as much as possible. With that in mind, here are a few ways to make sure you are prepared.
- Do a quick food inventory. Are there any staples that you need to get from the store today just in case? No need to freak out and buy everything at the store, but make sure you have enough to go a few days if you can’t get to the store. Bonus tip: Don’t forget to stock up on coffee.
- Snow gear. Take a quick look at the snow gear for everyone in the house. With the last snows storm I found my kids had grown out of essential pieces and it was more difficult to play outside. The stores will sell out quickly so make a list and if you can’t find what you need you still have time to ask around in your neighborhood free group or on OfferUp.
- Emergency Kits. Think a bit about what your schedule will be like through the weekend. Make sure you have emergency kits where you might need them. This means both your car and at home. Make sure you have some basics so you can get by.
- Flashlights & Candles. Find your flashlights and candles. I know we have a bunch in the house, but I could not tell you where they are. This is a good time to find them.
- Activities. If you want to make sure you have supplies for any projects around the house, make sure you pick them up ahead of time. My husband is always up to some DIY project so we always make sure we have supplies so he is ready to go!
If you haven’t heard about the recent snow event that is on its way, you can see the latest on this local weather forecast.

If all this talk of snow upsets you and you want to wish it away and focus on summer instead. You can do that too!
