Brant:
We humans are kind of weird. Let’s just be honest. We always think we’re living in a unique time. The world has never seen this before. This kind of instability, this kind of insecurity. Anybody who studies history for very long, like, yeah, we have over and over and over and over. Even back in biblical times when David was writing, a lot of the Psalms are written by David. It’s complete political instability. A whole village would just look up and see, oh my goodness, they’re at the gates and we’re done. All of us. And they had to live with that reality every day that that could happen. So it’s not totally unique to deal with some instability or some intrigue or that sort of stuff, but I love this Psalm 93. David’s writing this, I doubt he called it 93, but we sat down. Imagine that’s the atmosphere politically and all of that sort of stuff.
And he said, the Lord reigns. He is robed in majesty. He’s robed in majesty and armed with strength. Indeed the world is established, firm and secure. He’s talking about security. He says, I know who’s the king, and in case we miss it, in case we humans won’t declare it. Two verses later he says, oh no. He says, your throne was established long ago. You are from all eternity. The seas have lifted up, Lord. The seas have lifted up their voice. The seas have lifted up their pounding ways. They acknowledge who you are, like he’s the king. Yeah. We live in difficult times. Humans always have and look at the perspective of going. Even the oceans themselves have voted and they know exactly who’s in charge.
