As you read this, I am off to a wonderful Christian radio conference in Florida, the land of sunshine, Disney and hurricanes.
Hard to believe that almost exactly a year ago I had already chosen the word “FEARLESS” to be MY word for this past year at an event where singer Natalie Grant had challenged me. The word that I would focus on becoming. Little did I know what this past year would bring me… a hurricane of my very own.
2014 wasn’t met with the joy and warm fuzzies I was expecting but filled with some very difficult times for our family… filled with so much loss and heartache. The energy and emotions of our family seemed to be pulled in all directions. However, as crazy as life’s hurdles and unending demands have been, I have totally felt God’s peace that passes understanding and I have felt HIS arms around me and my family. It’s the type of peace that calms, assures and strengthens you.
I’ve learned that being fearless has nothing to do with us, but everything to do with Him. And through Him, we can walk tall and proud and through life’s storms and trials, because we’re not doing it alone. God is with us ALWAYS. I am reminded of this each time I hear Natalie Grant’s song ‘Hurricane.’ It has become MY anthem for the year.
If you too are in the eye of the hurricane, know this. God IS with you and right beside you. Here is the verse that I kept close to my heart. Perhaps it will be of comfort to you as well.
“God did not give us a spirit of fear and timidity, but one of power and love and self control.” (2 Tim. 1:7)
