This week’s Gold Star Teacher is Andrea Penner, from MEI Elementary School!
Nominated by Amy Bergen:
Mrs. Penner is a grade one teacher at MEI Elementary. We have been so blessed to have Mrs. Penner teach our son this year! She is loved by all. My son often tells me “Mrs. Penner REALLY loves us! She teaches us fun things and cares SO much.” My son even bought Mrs. Penner a ring pop in the hopes of proposing to her on her birthday (he said he chickened out and just gave her the ring instead)! He wants her to be in his life forever.
Mrs. Penner helps her students to be who God made them to be, encouraging their individual gifts and talents. She puts her heart and soul into her work and her love is felt by each student, parent, and even her co-workers. I have the pleasure of teaching across the hall from Mrs. Penner as a first year teacher. She has been a huge help to me and I have noticed that before and after school Mrs. Penner has a number of coworkers come by to visit as she is always willing to help, be there to talk through problems, and support others in any way she can. I have also noticed that Mrs. Penner spends a lot of her own time at MEI working and preparing her lessons and classroom.
Mrs. Penner is a blessing to our school community as she treats others with love, respect, and kindness. She has that amazing way of making every person she meets feel special. I believe that Mrs. Penner is so deserving of a gold star teacher award!
