Alex has taken on some of the most challenging and rewarding kids in our district. She has to create an individualized curriculum for each student and she strives to meet each student where their brain feels the safest. She challenges our district to think outside the box often because her students live outside their expectations. She believes in each of her students to grow and move beyond who they have been labeled to be. She gives them a voice and works so very hard to earn their trust, and is extremely creative in ways of educating them. She understands that these students need life skills that will help them after high school. Not just information to put on a test. She also listens to the parents and works as a team alongside the parent.

I am so blessed to have her as my child’s teacher! Never have I felt so heard and my child so completely understood. Alex has gone to bat for my child in SO many ways and has gone above and beyond anyone I’ve ever known. With all the changes in this last year she has exceeded any of my expectations and has always had a plan. I know she does this for all her students which just baffles me because I work hard to help my child and I’m exhausted. Alex does this for, I believe, 20+ other students who all come with their own brain things! Alex deserves to be recognized in a huge way!
