Brant shares a story about his friend Ben, who is struggling with his use of bad language and feeling frustrated by his lack of spiritual maturity.
It’s okay to progress slowly and that not being able to see one’s own growth doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Stay committed to seeking God, trusting that change will come.

You may be able to relate to Ben. He is an old friend and he wrote me and he’s frustrated with, he’s like, you know what? I’ve always had a foul mouth and I want to get better at it, but I’m not, and I hear these stories about God changing people overnight and bam, they’re like spiritually mature and I’m still floundering and he’s really struggling with it. I had to write him back and one of the things I said was, you know what I have seen, just from my perspective, God a lot of times takes his time with us, and that’s okay. And it doesn’t mean that the places where we’re immature that, well, who cares? Let’s just tell you. Immature. No. But at the same time, I’ve seen maybe you have two where God kind of works on one thing at a time with you, and if you’re like me, there’s enough areas that one thing at a time could take quite a while, and it’s okay.
It really is. And I say that, don’t get discouraged. It doesn’t mean that God’s not at work in your life at all. The other thing is you can’t always tell yourself whether you’ve grown. You’re the last person sometimes to be a judge of that. It’s like being a kid and you grow three inches over the summer. You don’t know it. Somebody’s like, I think you’ve grown. Oh yeah, you’re right. You have to measure it. Somebody else has to do that. That’s really hard. But God’s really good and if you’re honestly seeking him, he is going to change you.
