Starting Friday, PRAISE will begin our annual tradition of playing exclusively Christmas music. Have you wondered why PRAISE plays a mix of Christ-centered and traditional (aka ‘secular’) Christmas music? What do Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells, Frosty or Rudolph have to do with the good news of Emmanuel – God with Us?
Christmas is celebrated worldwide by Christians and non-Christians. The Christmas season is our best opportunity to introduce PRAISE to people who wouldn’t normally listen to a Christian music station. Christmas music is instantly familiar to everyone – and beloved by many! Building familiarity with PRAISE is the first step in moving people to listen when we switch back to contemporary Christian music. So between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we play both traditional Christmas favorites and Christ-centered Christmas music to reach out to people who might not normally listen. John 1:5 “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
As people flip through stations searching for Christmas music, we’re here with a blend of Christmas music that is familiar, bright, and fun! We balance a mix of family favorites with songs about Jesus, and messages of hope and encouragement that our DJs add to share the truth to all who listen. The truth that there’s way more to this season than just food and gifts. We want ALL people to hear about the hope of Jesus in the music, both now and after Christmas. Luke 2:10 “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for ALL the people.”
Will you join us? In our efforts to reach more people with Christmas PRAISE this season! You can:
Spread the word! Share about the Christmas music programming on social media, with your friends, church, etc. For believers, tell them why we play Christmas music, and encourage them to share the station with whoever they can!
Pray! Christmas for believers is a joyful celebration of the birth of our savior. We ask you to pray that the Lord sends people to PRAISE 106.5 – people looking for Christmas music to get in the Christmas spirit while shopping, wrapping gifts, baking treats, or throwing parties.
It has been such an encouragement every year to hear from people who have told us they started listening only because of Christmas music, and then continued to listen! We hear how God used PRAISE to change their lives, and it all began with Christmas music they recognized. We hope this helps you understand our perspective for Christmas music this season.
Merry Christmas!
