The words “I love you” can mean a lot of different things. But when spoken sincerely, they always mean we value someone. They hold worth for us. In Jeremiah 31:3 God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Everlasting love—love that never fails, never fades, never gives up.
God not only says He loves us; He proved it by giving everything for us. That’s what He did when He chose to give up the comforts and privileges of heaven and be born into our world, live within all the limitations of being human, and die for all the things that separate us from His everlasting love.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NLT)
This may be a familiar truth to you and perhaps you have spent years living in the light of God’s love—but it’s always good to pause and consider its depth again. Just as the Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian church, we are praying for you:
“… may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT)
The more we experience the love that God has for us, the more complete our life is! When we first received Jesus’ love for us, we were given eternal life … but that life isn’t for some distant future time, it is for right now and it will become richer and deeper throughout eternity.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I want to have the eternal life with You that You say I can have, and I want to live in it today! Please show me more of Your love in my life. Amen.
ACTION: If you are just learning about the love that God has for you, you can learn more by visiting our page “Who is Jesus?” today. And if you want to share this love with others, please give today to the For God So Loved fundraiser at PRAISE 106.5.
