We are so excited to announce our Love is on the Air winner with Walton Beverage! Rosalie Conway from North Vancouver is winning an overnight stay at the Hotel Bellwether, tickets to Matt Dusk at the Mount Baker Theatre, and a pair of day spa passes to Oasis Spa Northwest!
Here is a piece of the Conway’s story:
“Less than two months into our engagement, I found out that I had cancer in 4 places in my body. Since I had been through cancer treatments, when I was younger, I knew how tough it would be, and so when I found out about the diagnosis, I didn’t think it was fair for him to have to go through that with me. but he was determined to stand with me by my side through everything. Shortly we found out that I would have to have a bone marrow transplant, which involved high levels of chemotherapy and a lengthy hospital stay. Part of this treatment involved the very real risk of me not being able to have kids. We faced that fear together and went to faith, believing that God is a God of miracles. We decided to move our wedding date sooner than anticipated so that we could be married while we were going through treatments. Our wedding was beautiful and all the more meaningful with everyone knowing what we would be stepping into after our honeymoon. Put hand in hand we were determined to step past this fearful diagnosis and the dread of the treatments ahead. Shortly after we got back from our short honeymoon, we got the call that we needed to come in to the hospital to be admitted for the cancer treatment. We called this season ‘going in for the cure’. But we knew it wouldn’t be easy. While we were in the isolation ward of the cancer hospital, Matt slept on the couch beside me and was with me every step of the way. He took a semester off of school and took much time off of work as we didn’t have family nearby. He prayed for me every day and we read scriptures about healing out loud. All the doctors and nurses soon got to know us and started to call us ‘the newlyweds’. Within days, I had lost my hair, but not my hope. There is many days of extreme pain and anguish, but we went through it together. My body got very weak, but my faith got stronger than ever. Even being bald in with wires sticking out of my chest somehow Matt still looked at me like I was the most beautiful woman in the world. He was my hero and a true gift from God.”
Now, 18 years later, with two healthy children, Rosalie and Matt continue to walk hand-in-hand, still praying and trusting in God’s plan, a reminder that love is strongest when tested by life’s challenges.
Congratulations Rosalie! Wishing you both a very lovely Valentine’s Day weekend – courtesy of our friends Walton Beverage!
