How are you feeling about Christmas this year? Are you totally into decorating your home, buying presents for everyone you know, and driving around in the dark to look at neighborhoods lit up with Santas and reindeer and manger scenes?
Whether that’s you this year, or a more accurate description is that you’re feeling sad, lonely, grieving the loss of someone you used to do all those things with, and anxious about family gatherings … there is A Reason to Praise this Christmas.
Let’s allow God to make a paradigm shift in our lives and put our eyes on the One we are celebrating. Just like when we bring a cake and presents to someone we love on their birthday, often regardless of how we’re feeling, let’s make this Christmas about Jesus! When we do that, we’ll find many reasons to praise.
God became one of us. Imagine living in absolute perfection and choosing to enter a world where nothing was good enough. Would you choose that? I wouldn’t, except for my kids and grandkids. I’d do it if it meant they could be with me forever in absolute perfection.
That’s what Jesus did for you and me. That’s how much He loves us! And that’s why we have A Reason to Praise this Christmas.
Pray with me: Dear Lord, thank you for coming into my struggle and heartache, and even into places I didn’t know I needed You, and for changing everything. I’m so grateful I get to be with You forever because You spent a few decades on earth and paid the enormous price required to forgive me and set me free. Help me celebrate Your birthday in style this year. Amen.
