Brant and Sherri discuss a recent news article about genetic researchers reversing aging signs such as wrinkles, gray hair, and balding in mice by tweaking a gene that affects the mitochondria in each cell. Lots of potential implications, including the possibility of ageless mice with luxurious fur.

Brant:
Dunno if you saw this in the news. Think of the ramifications of this. Genetic researchers reverse… This is the headline… Genetic researchers, reverse wrinkles, gray hair and balding in mice calling it unprecedented. And I was reading this. They’re tweaking one gene that affects the mitochondria in each cell. And again, they say that the fur is restored, the gray, it’s gone, the wrinkles are gone.
Sherri:
The wrinkles in the mice.
Brant:
Think of the ramifications of that. If that’s true. Think of it though.
Sherri:
What’s the ramifications for it?
Brant:
Just down the line, we will have mice with luxurious fur. Mice.
Sherri:
Ageless.
Brant:
Ageless. Just live forever. So mice with no wrinkles.
Sherri:
Oh my goodness.
Brant:
Mice that may be 40 years old, 50, 100, 500 years old. But look, just pristine.
Sherri:
I dare not
Brant:
look like they’re 16 years old.
Sherri:
Dare not dream of such a world.
Brant:
This is what can happen. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this and balding, no more male pattern baldness with mice or anything like that. Enough.
Sherri:
Wow.
Brant:
Enough.
