I love Christmas. It really is the greatest love story of all time. God just wanted to be reunited with us so he sent his son to bridge that gap. We had turned away and God wanted to bring us back together. Jesus was the answer. He came out of love. He died out of love. He lived with us to show us how to love.
As we walk this week toward Christmas, I feel so grateful that we get the opportunity to celebrate this beautiful love story. I don’t know if you’ve had the opportunity to watch Christmas with the Chosen this year, but I recommend it to get you in the Christmas spirit. You can watch it on YouTube. There is a song that the artist Brandon Lake sang called Gratitude and I love the lyrics.
All my words fall short
I got nothing new
How could I express
All my gratitude?
I got nothing new
How could I express
All my gratitude?
I could sing these songs
As I often do
But every song must end
And You never do
As I often do
But every song must end
And You never do
So I throw up my hands
And praise You again and again
‘Cause all that I have is a hallelujah
Hallelujah
And I know it’s not much
But I’ve nothing else fit for a King
Except for a heart singing hallelujah
Hallelujah
And praise You again and again
‘Cause all that I have is a hallelujah
Hallelujah
And I know it’s not much
But I’ve nothing else fit for a King
Except for a heart singing hallelujah
Hallelujah
Sometimes it’s hard to wrap my head around what the Christmas story really means. I want to enjoy the season, the wonder, the fun of it all, but it’s hard to really internalize what it meant when Jesus came down. All I have is my gratitude. I think a posture of worship is always a great place to start. It doesn’t matter how much you have this Christmas. It doesn’t matter if you’ve crossed everything off the list. It doesn’t matter if you’ve managed to squeeze in all the traditions. Take a moment of worship! Take a moment to say thank you Jesus for coming.
