These are the words that come to mind when I think of Sydney Magra. When you meet Sydney, you feel instantly at ease and know that your child will feel safe and secure in her classroom. Sydney has worked at LCS for a number of years now as a Kindergarten teacher. She has a way of connecting with both parents and students in an authentic real, way. When we would meet for teacher-parent meetings we knew that the suggestions she had were because she truly cared about the well-being of the child both spiritually and academically.

My son was in Sydney’s kindergarten class from 2019-2020 when the pandemic hit. Throughout the year Sydney created an atmosphere of welcoming in her classroom. I never had a single day where my son dreaded school, he in fact ALWAYS looked forward to it. Sydney would often make every child feel special; on their birthday she would take the time to draw a personalized message and picture on the whiteboard. Sydney always greeted every child at the door with a smile, and she still remembers my son’s name as we pass by her class now that he is in grade one. This current schoolyear I know a few families in her class and they have commented to me how wonderful she is. When we started online schooling, Sydney stepped up and engaged our kids with fun videos, interactive video meetings and creative assignments. She even filmed herself in the forest with an animal costume and fun jungle music to welcome the kids to online schooling.

Sydney works tirelessly at her profession, and she does so with incredible grace. She is beautiful on the inside and out. I pray her career and future are filled with good things and I am so grateful that I have gotten to know her, and that she made such an impact on our son. I would love for her to be acknowledged because she goes over and above what is expected of a teacher, because she truly cares about her students. Her heart is in the right place, and I believe God has created her to do great things.
